One of the goals of SJA is to form apostles of Christ, these are students who not only know their Faith, but live it as well. The school has developed a "Works of Mercy" program where many of our K-12 students come together to get "hands on" experience by directly helping many different members of our community. It is our hope and prayer that when they graduate, they will continue to participate in these activities and serve Christ, as He has commanded us.
A few of the activities the students are involved in are: visiting the elderly at nursing homes; providing, preparing, and serving meals to the homeless, as well as cleaning and preparing housing units for them; praying the Rosary for unborn babies outside a local abortion clinic; working the phone banks for pro-life ballot issues; helping disabled children by becoming involved in activities such as horse therapy; and raising money for Bibles for prisoners. The students also work together with the local Knights of Columbus to help the mentally disabled by taking part in selling and distributing Tootsie Rolls for their yearly drive. The students take joy in seeing the difference they make in the lives they are touching through these activities.
