Athletics
“Sports is not merely the exercise of muscles, but it is the school of moral values and of training in courage, in perseverance, and in overcoming laziness and carelessness. There is no doubt that these values are of greatest interest for the formation of a personality which considers sports not an end in itself but as a means to total physical, moral and social development.”
~ Pope John Paul II
Mission
At Saint Joseph Academy we look to incorporate the fundamental teachings of the Catholic Church into our athletic program. We are called to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit and through the encouragements of the late Pope John Paul II, we strive to compete both in life and in sports. St. Joseph Academy's athletic program fully embraces the Holy Father's words regarding sports that athletics not only strengthens the mind and body, but helps one grow in character and virtue. Participation in athletics teaches self-discipline, teamwork, integrity, sportsmanship, perseverance, leadership and humility. Our goal is to grow and improve with each season and look to build on the foundation we have set.
